Since the Indian Ocean tsunami hit Thailand’s southern provinces in December 2004, Save the Children Sweden and partners have worked to fulfil the rights of children in the affected areas. Schoolchildren from the tsunami affected provinces today take their work on natural disaster preparedness to the stage in Ranong Province, Thailand.
Watched by government officials from provincial office of social development and district office, principals, schoolteachers, non-governmental organisations, and children from other schools, each children group presents their campaign’s activities. Some play a documentary film about their efforts in making their community a more child-friendly place, some present a puppet show about how young children can prepare for tsunami, and others carry out interactive games about natural disasters preparedness.
